The Story Behind a Mandaloun;
The Mandaloun, is an element of the traditional architecture of Lebanon that first appeared in the 17th-century. Our Great Prince Fakhreddine II brought it with him all the way from Italy. That is why, those charmingly solid mandalouns proudly perch in stately mansions and in the vernacular houses of the mountains of Lebanon.
The term Mandaloun, is claimed to be linked to the Italian 'mandolino' which is a musical instrument in the lute family. It was inferred that the mandaloun's disposition and location was favorable to the instrument player thus the naming.
